Schedule Update: Super-G Moved to Friday

Mother Nature is keeping us on our toes this year!

Due to heavy snow in the forecast, this Saturday’s scheduled Stifel Birds of Prey Men’s Audi FIS Ski World Cup super-G has been moved up to Friday, December 5. The start time is set for 11:15 a.m. MT, with the possibility to shift due to weather. Additionally, the super-G will now start at the men’s downhill foul weather start at the top of the Brink.

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), Vail Valley Foundation, Beaver Creek Resort, and Stifel U.S. Ski Team made the decision Thursday morning following Wednesday’s announcement that the downhill race scheduled for Friday would move to Thursday, opening Friday up as a viable option for the super-G.

There will be no racing on Saturday, and Saturday’s pre-race program will move to Friday. Sunday’s giant slalom is still scheduled for 10:00 a.m., weather permitting, and all other previously announced changes remain in place.

VIP ticketholders will continue to enjoy premium hospitality in the VIP tent located in the traditional finish area all four days Thursday through Sunday, with unlimited food and beverages and live entertainment.

Because the super-G is now taking place on Friday, the bib draw originally scheduled for Friday night will now take place Saturday at 6:00 p.m. to decide the race order for Sunday’s giant slalom. For other changes to the festival program, visit bcworldcup.com/events

While there may be no World Cup ski racing to watch on Saturday, skiers and riders can enjoy some fresh turns at Beaver Creek and then head down to the village for free live music, the 10th Annual Beers of Prey, Switchfoot at the Vilar Performing Arts Center, and more.

Weather conditions are rapidly evolving, and this schedule is subject to change. Visit bcworldcup.com or follow us @bcworldcup for the latest information.
