Adjusted 2025 Stifel Birds of Prey Program: What to Expect

Updated December 4, 2025

Races are on for FRIDAY, Saturday and Sunday, with adjusted starts and finish

It’s the final countdown! This week, more than 130 elite athletes from 27 nations will descend on Beaver Creek for the 2025 Stifel Birds of Prey Men’s Audi FIS Ski World Cup.

Due to weather, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), Vail Valley Foundation, Beaver Creek Resort, and the Stifel U.S. Ski Team have moved the downhill race from Friday, December 5 to Thursday, December 4, and the super-G race from Saturday, December 6 to Friday, December 5.

There will now be one downhill race, taking place on Thursday, December 4 at 11:00 a.m. The super-G start time on Friday is set for 11:15 a.m., with the possibility to shift due to weather. All of Friday’s pre-race festivities will now take place on Thursday, and Saturday’s scheduled pre-race festivities will now take place on Friday.

Additionally, the super-G on Saturday and giant slalom on Sunday will have alternative start areas, and all races will finish in the same updated competition finish location at Harrier Jump.

So, what does that mean for you as a spectator? Here’s everything you need to know about how this impacts your Birds of Prey experience:

The Courses

Here is what the races are expected to look like, weather permitting:

Thursday, December 4, 11:00AM – Men’s Downhill

  • Start: Traditional men’s downhill race start
  • Finish: Harrier Jump

Friday, December 5, 11:15AM – Men’s Super-G

  • Start: Men’s foul weather downhill start at the top of the Brink
  • Finish: Harrier Jump

Sunday, December 7, 10:00AM (Run 1); 1:00PM (Run 2) – Men’s Giant Slalom

  • Start: Pick 5, just below the traditional men’s super-G start
  • Finish: Harrier Jump

Weather conditions are rapidly evolving and schedules and courses are subject to change. Visit bcworldcup.com or follow us @bcworldcup for the latest information.

Once athletes cross the competition finish line, they’ll ski down to the traditional finish area where YOU are—bringing all the energy, excitement, and celebration right to the spectator zones. You’ll see the athletes arrive, celebrate their runs, and interact with fans and media just as they always do.

On The Brink of History

Because the new proposed start location for super-G is further up the hill than the traditional start, athletes are now expected to tackle The Brink for the first time ever in this discipline. The Brink is an infamous section of extremely steep, challenging terrain, widely considered the toughest spot on the downhill course.

“Watching these athletes navigate The Brink while executing the more precise turns required in super-G will be incredible,” said Sarah Franke, Senior Vice President of Operations for the Vail Valley Foundation. “This section of course is known to test all downhill specialists who attempt it. Seeing it incorporated into another discipline will add a whole new dimension of excitement.”

Your Spectator Experience

Here’s the most important part: Your race-day experience at John and Karen Arnold Red Tail Stadium is still spectacular and completely FREE! Everything about the spectator experience remains exactly the same, including:

  • FREE spectating for all training and race days
  • Public Perch viewing area with live DJs before select races
  • Video screens showing live race action
  • Awards ceremonies in the finish area
  • Media interviews and athlete interactions
  • All the energy and atmosphere you love about Stifel Birds of Prey

VIP ticketholders will continue to enjoy premium hospitality in the VIP tent located in the traditional finish area all four days Thursday through Sunday, with unlimited food and beverages, live entertainment, and the best views of all the action.
