FIS ALPINE WORLD SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS

1989, 1999 & 2015

The Vail Valley Foundation, organizers of the Birds of Prey FIS Ski World Cup, have also played a key role in the Local Organization of the three domestically-hosted FIS Alpine World Ski Championships (1989, 1999, and 2015). An Organizing Committee comprised of a multi-faceted group of individuals, representing many of the key ski and tourism-related entities throughout Colorado and the United States also played a key role in the success of the Vail/Beaver Creek Alpine World Ski Championships in 2015, 1999 and 1989.

While the 1989, 1999, and 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships only lasted for two weeks, the spirit of these international gatherings left a lasting legacy throughout the Vail Valley, the State of Colorado and the United States for years to come.

We look forward to the next time we are able to host a FIS Alpine World Ski Championship event and continue our vision to provide one of the top yearly World Cup races on the FIS Ski World Cup through Birds of Prey.
