Snowmaking Begins at Beaver Creek Resort

You know Stifel Birds of Prey is getting close when they fire up the snow guns at Beaver Creek.

Snow gun fires snow onto a cold fall ground as snowmaking begins at beaver creek resort for the 2025-26 season

The resort started making snow the night of Thursday, Oct. 16, officially kicking off preparation of the Birds of Prey racecourse. Snowmaking operations began on the flyway and will expand to the race finish area as temperatures continue to drop. The resort is working to build a snow base ranging from 18 inches to three feet across different sections of the course. Beyond the racecourse itself, Beaver Creek is also making snow on general skier access areas to ensure optimal early-season conditions across the mountain.

The Men’s Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup event takes place this year at Beaver Creek from Dec. 4-7, featuring an expanded four-race format that includes two downhills, a super-G and a giant slalom. The event will showcase the best men’s alpine ski racing athletes as they battle for crucial Olympic qualifying points ahead of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games.

Stifel Birds of Prey is free to spectate and does not require any ski experience or a lift ticket to access the race finish area. The four-day festival includes nonstop festivities, including free concerts, athlete autograph opportunities, a live bib draw, fireworks, the fan-favorite Beers of Prey tasting event, and more. For those looking for the ultimate experience, VIP tickets are on sale now.
