STARTING YOUR DAY

Each day before you volunteer, you will receive an email reminder with all the key details and updates for your shift, including your morning check-in time and locations, as well as your section/position for the day.

Check out the info on breakfast, crew meetings, lunch, and Chair 6 load times below.

After checking in, head to your designated table, where you’ll find placards with your section name and Crew Chief. Breakfast will be offered every day that you volunteer at the Powder 8 Restaurant with a buffet of hearty, hot options. It’s a great time to fill your thermos with hot water, Gatorade, and soup.

Sit at your designated table to meet your Crew Chief and co-workers. Your Crew Chief will review the day’s tasks and safety precautions. If it’s your First Day with the Talon Crew, make sure your Crew Chief knows. If you’re working in the upper arena and need crampons, this is the time to arrange with your Crew Chief (available at Ford Hall).

Lunch will be distributed from the Commissary in the lower level of Ford Hall. Each crew will select a designated shopper to pick up your team’s provisions.

Your load time for Chair 6 is 45 minutes after check-in. Have breakfast quickly, then it’s time to boot up, suit up, and ski up!

  • Don’t leave anything behind at Powder 8. This space is used by others after us.
  • Lost items will be taken to Lost & Found at VHQ.
  • Skis: Use the outdoor racks; don’t bring skis into the building.
  • Bring a comfortable backpack for your lunch and hydration, and keep it with you. Work with your Crew Chief as to how and where to safely place your backpack once you are in your section.
  • Bathrooms: Powder 8 bathrooms are much nicer than on the hill. They are located at the bottom of the stairs, then take a hard left.
  • Deploy as a group: Stay together until you reach your section.
