Spectator’s Guide

From COVID-19 policies to transportation and surrounding festivities, everything you need to know about attending xfinity Birds of Prey in 2021

Ranked as the No. 1 overall stop by the athletes and coaches who participate, the Xfinity Birds of Prey Audi FIS Ski World Cup Super G and Downhill races in Beaver Creek are scheduled for Dec. 3-5. Hosted by the nonprofit Vail Valley Foundation, the event celebrates “Where Winter Begins” in North America.

This year’s event also includes live music not to be missed, beer tastings, ski films, athlete appearances, sponsor activations and much more in the heart of Beaver Creek Village on what is dubbed “Birds of Prey Way.” 

 

QUESTION: Are vaccinations and masks required? 

ANSWER: Bring a mask! Per Vail Resorts policy, face coverings are required in indoor settings, including restaurants, lodging properties (including Park Hyatt Beaver Creek and Ford Hall check-in areas), restrooms, retail and rental locations and on buses 

  • Employees working at Birds of Prey, VIP guests, media, and volunteers will be required to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. VIP guests will additionally be required to wear a mask inside the VIP tent except when actively eating or drinking. Children under 12 attending VIP will not be required to show proof of vaccination, but must wear a mask in the VIP area except when actively eating or drinking.
  • Grand stand spectators DO NOT need to provide proof of vaccination.  
  • Beers of Prey ticket-holders will not need to provide proof of vaccination.  
  • Masks are not required in outdoor spectator areas or in outdoor village locations, but will be required in media and VIP zones unless actively eating or drinking.  

 

QUESTION: What does it cost to attend the races? 

ANSWER: All race events are FREE and open to the public! Public concessions and restrooms will also be available. Support the Xfinity Birds of Prey by becoming a Community Sponsor! QUESTION: Where do I park for Birds of Prey? 

ANSWER: Spectator parking is available in the resort parking lots at the base of Beaver Creek – park in the Elk or Bear lots. A flat $10 fee per vehicle will be charged during winter for use of the Elk and Bear lots. Regularly scheduled free shuttles will bring spectators from the base parking area to the Vilar Performing Arts Center and Birds of Prey Way expo area. Free race shuttles depart from the Covered Bridge in Beaver Creek often throughout race days. *Masks are required on buses. 

 

QUESTION: How do I get to the Birds of Prey racecourse? 

ANSWER: See our MAP! Free race shuttles depart from the Covered Bridge in Beaver Creek often throughout race days. From the race-finish drop off area, there is a five-minute on-snow walk to Red Tail Stadium. Please allow one hour of travel time from the base of Beaver Creek Resort to Red Tail Stadium to avoid missing any of the action! Weather permitting, some years, depending on early-season snowfall, it is possible to ski out of the venue down Dally, or to ski-in to the venue from other parts of Beaver Creek Mountain. 

 

QUESTION: Is there ADA access? 

ANSWER: ADA access to the venue is available upon request. Contact Birds of Prey Registration at 970-470-2269. 

 

QUESTION: What festivities surround Birds of Prey races? 

ANSWER: Beaver Creek comes alive to celebrate the start of winter during the Xfinity Birds of Prey. Ancillary events and activations include: Birds of Prey Way, located in Beaver Creek Village; a silent disco; Ted Ligety celebration and autograph signing; fireworks; Warren Miller’s “Winter is Now” movie screening at the VPAC; Beers of Prey; Bloodies & Bluegrass event; live music; sponsor activations and more. QUESTION: Are there kids activities? 

ANSWER: Xfinity Birds of Prey is a fantastic kids and family event. Fireworks, ice skating in Beaver Creek Village, the Ted Ligety celebration and autograph signing, movies, music, watching the world’s best men’s racers compete, and more are all part of a family-friendly weekend in Beaver Creek.
