The annual Birds of Prey Audi FIS Ski World Cup men’s races in Beaver Creek provide a highlight of the annual competition calendar.

That excitement is now bubbling over in a very intriguing way.

Enthusiasm is reaching new heights as a proposed – and unconfirmed – FIS draft race calendar includes not only the annual return of the best men’s racers in the world to Birds of Prey, but also the addition of a weekend of women’s racing the following weekend in December. The dual-event would also include a 10-day festival of ski racing, winter culture, concerts, sponsor activations, and much more in Beaver Creek this December.

…But it is not confirmed yet

It’s important to note that the proposed draft calendar will not be confirmed or approved until International Ski Federation (FIS) meetings this June, organizers said.

“We are thrilled for the potential opportunity to host men’s and women’s racing, and a wide array of ancillary festivities, together with the FIS, U.S. Ski & Snowboard, Vail Resorts, Beaver Creek Resort Company, and all of our event partners and sponsors,” said Sarah Franke of the Vail Valley Foundation, the nonprofit entity that leads the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the Birds of Prey races each year.

“Our community has been hosting international ski racing for over 50 years. While we still await the final approval of the official race calendar, we are optimistic and excited about the possibilities and look forward to sharing the official news in June and celebrating this incredible opportunity for our community to once again shine on the world stage in both men’s and women’s racing.”

Men

The proposed men’s racing calendar includes a downhill, super G, and giant slalom on the weekend of December 6-8.

Women

The proposed women’s racing calendar includes a downhill and super G on the weekend of December 13-15.

The Vail Valley Foundation is already planning for the possibility of the expanded racing schedule and expects to have more information and announcements after the FIS Congress meetings in June, when the racing calendar is officially confirmed.
