The good news is that a full slate of festivities are still ON and planned for Beaver Creek Village and the Red Tail Finish Area surrounding the Xfinity Birds of Prey Audi FIS Ski World Cup races today.

The bad news, unfortunately, is due to the present weather situation with the snowfall throughout Friday night and into this morning, coupled with heavy winds and the current forecast, the race Jury, together with the Organizing Committee, have decided to cancel today’s men’s downhill.

“We are extremely grateful for all the incredible hard work put into the creation of this amazing course and event by all our volunteers, the Talon Crew and course workers, but also specifically our Beaver Creek Mountain Operations staff that worked through the night to prepare the course for today. Their hard work will continue today to prepare the course for tomorrow’s super G, and we’re lucky to have them,” said Mike Imhof, President of the Vail Valley Foundation, which serves as the Organizing Committee for the event each year. “Fortunately, there is still a lot for all of us to enjoy today on the mountain, in the Village, and in the Finish Area.”

Imhof pointed out that ski conditions are great and Beaver Creek Resort is open for skiing.
